Samsung Pakistan has never failed to amaze us when it comes to their CSR Campaigns. The company’s latest CSR focuses on educating women from the rural areas about the digital world and how to use it for their benefit. This latest campaign is called “Aangan PK”. The name aangan is self-explanatory. The objective of this campaign is to bring livelihood and happiness to the anngans (homes) of countless women who have no access to the digital world.
How this campaign works? Samsung started by equipping these women with smartphones and providing them training as to how to use digital platform for their benefit. The women were taught how to use the Aangan online job portal (www.aanganpk.com). Thousands of women who earn bread and butter for their families by doing various domesticated jobs such as sewing, knitting, embroidery etc, are now able to use the website to carry out e-commerce activities based on their specific skill set. Women enroll themselves on this website with a brief bio about themselves so that the general public can see their work and employee them for the task they want to. The women can also display their work. The website offers online shopping and free shipping across Pakistan.
This CSR very aptly resonates with Samsung’s global message “DO WHAT YOU CANT”. We wish Samsung Pakistan all the best for their future endeavors, especially when its about women empowerment.
